HOW OUR LIBRARY WORKS
(Revised 3/15/2021): Since it’s beginning, the Library has grown from the original main room and later additional shelves were added in the room referred to as the Ping Pong Room. Managing 1,000 to 2,000 books and maintaining adequate shelf space is the responsibility of the volunteer Library Team meets on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 A.M. for our work session. Newly acquired books are logged in at this time. The Committee reviews all other books and corresponding cards for lack of reader interest. Any books removed at this time are then put in our FREE category for a month before being donated to a local library or institution. To perform this task quickly and efficiently, the Committee is relying on you to sign and date the 3” by 5” cards when checking out a book. The 3’ by 5’ cards are to be placed in the metal box on the counter. We accept all donations, by residents, their family and friends, however, if we cannot use them for various reasons (duplicates, etc.) again we put them in our FREE category before donating them. We do not keep duplicates because of our limited space. Instructions for using our Library are located in the inside front cover of the white binder located outside of the News Room. The white binder also contains a list of the Library’s books by author. To continue providing a selection of enjoyable reading for all our residents, books should be returned within 4 months. Due to limited shelf space, any magazines you wish to donate should be current/or the previous month only and can be taken home for your reading enjoyment.
